Some Advantages

Low Cost - you can create blogs for free using web blog software such as Blogger or Wordpress.Part Time - you can blog in your spare time, 24/7 from any internet connected computer.

Marketing - you create free advertising every time you create a post. You can ping several services using Pingomatic or Pingoat reaching millions of readers. every day.

Fun - create a blog on a topic you are passionate about. Search engines love fresh content and you may gain a loyal following of readers interested in your topic.

Profits - you can join affiliate programs or popular pay per click programs and have the potential to earn money every day!

Some Disadvantages

Don’t Quit Your Day Job - although the earning potential is there, getting traffic to your blog(s) takes time. You have to learn search engine marketing and will have to learn techniques on how to market your site. Getting indexed by a search engine on average takes between 6 - 8 months alone.

One Isn’t Enough - you may have to create several blogs depending on the amount of money you wish to earn. Blogging for profit is a volatile market. Your blog could be popular in the search engines one day and non-existant the next. In other words, don’t leave all of your eggs in one basket. Having several blogs on various topics increases your chance of continuing to turn a profit.

Not Everyone Succeeds - it’s true you can make good money from your blogs but remember to stay realistic. As with any business venture you take on, there are always risks involved and an internet business can fail just as well as a brick & mortar business.

The best thing to do is read, read, read. Learn from the pro’s who are out there succeeding in this business. A lot of them will share their mistakes and give their advice. Some for free and some for a price. Either way, the more you know, the more your blogging for profit business can grow.
