I do plenty of book reviews but I don't usually do information product reviews because I refuse to purchase them. I have purchased several in the past, and more often than not, I was disappointed with the content. That being said, my review of Josh Spaulding's Info Product Success Formula says a lot, because it is one of the first info products I've purchased in years, and I also feel it is good enough to review.

About the Author

Josh Spaulding is an internet marketer and has been running his successful internet marketing blog for years. I have been subscribed to his blog and email list for quite some time. I have also had brief communication with Josh over the years and he has always responded quickly and has always been helpful. He has a reputation of being an ethical internet marketer and I can vouch that he is, otherwise, I would have unsubscribed from his blog/email list a long time ago.

Why Information Products?

I had never purchased any of Josh's products until this one. I have an information product of my own that I'd like to make more sales with and when I got Josh's email that Info Product Success Formula was on sale, it couldn't have come at a better time. I have always been interested in selling products of my own and information is such an easy way to get started. It is low-cost and easy to produce an ebook. Most often all you need to get started is a word processor, domain name, and payment processor like PayPal.

What this Book is About

While I am not completely clueless as to how to create an information product and set up a sales page, I still learned some valuable tips. I really liked that Josh emphasizes creating quality info products that truly help people. You can create just about any product in any niche if you truly focus on filling a need. His formula makes sense and is easy to understand. He also gives you two paths to follow and you have the option of focusing solely on one path or using both to earn more income.

The book covers the basics and technical aspects of producing your product as well as where to research niches. I also liked reading about Josh's formula for communicating with your email subscribers. I have tried various methods I've read about online and never had much success so I'm looking forward to trying this out.

Who this Book is For

This guide is definitely for those new to internet marketing, however, if you have some experience like myself but can't quite get it together in creating and marketing your product, then you will find plenty of good information here. If you've been burned before from buying internet marketing products, I can say with confidence that you won't get that "I've just been had" feeling from purchasing this. I'll be following this formula for my current and future info products, that's for sure.

I enjoy reading business books but most that I have read don't manage to hold my attention and I have to force my way through finishing them. The Millionaire Fastlane: Crack the Code to Wealth and Live Rich for a Lifetime is one of the few business books I've read that I couldn't put down. I was reading this book in every free moment I had. I made tons of highlights (something I don't find myself doing with most business/entrepreneur books) and I already plan on re-reading it.

About the Author

M.J. DeMarco is the former founder and CEO of Limos.com. Like many of us, he wanted to be free from the "slowlane" which he describes as believing wealth is to be found in 401(k)s, mutual funds, working a 9 to 5, and saving for 40 years. Before cracking the code to wealth, M.J. worked many a dead-end job, tried his share of scammy "get rich quick" programs, and a few network marketing companies. After a lot of trial and error, M.J. was able to retire young in the "fastlane" and he shares how it's done in this book.

The Truth Hurts

I admit, I read a lot about myself within the pages of this book. I'm the person he is describing when talking about bad debt, being a consumer rather than a producer, and basically being a sidewalker. The truth can hurt but often times, it is what we need to hear in order to stop making the same mistakes. Those mistakes and more are what keep many of us in the slowlane. The slowlane is what is often preached by the so-called gurus: get a good job, invest in a 401(k) and mutual funds, and maybe you'll be rich by the time you're 65.

M.J. also speaks about the hypocrisy of the so-called business gurus. Many of these gurus promote the slowlane but are obtaining their own wealth using the fastlane.

The Fastlane

Simply put, the fastlane is where its at! The fastlane chapters go into detail for your plan of attack. Forget about doing what you love and the money will follow routine. Heck, I even preached that before because it was all I ever heard. How many times have you been told to do what you love and the money will follow? I agree with M.J. in that doing what you love isn't always the way to wealth.

Simply owning your own business and being your own boss does not mean you are on the right road to the fastlane. There are many business owners that work long hours and never have enough time to spend with their families. The Millionaire Fastlane will explain how to get on the right road, what pitfalls to avoid, and get you in the right mindset.

Conclusion

I give this book 5 stars, two thumbs up, and high praises all around. I couldn't put it down and I look forward to putting what I've learned from it to good use. M.J. DeMarco wrote an excellent book and I'm glad he didn't give up on it. It is sure to help so many people on their path to wealth.

To be honest, I had never heard of Jack Nadel until receiving his book, Use What You Have to Get What You Want: 100 Basic Ideas That Mean Business. When I finally got the book in the mail, I was surprised at its size. At 128 pages long, you may wonder what could it possibly be about and would it be worth reading? I'm here to say, don't let the size of the book deter you from reading it. It is packed full of wisdom and excellent advice.

About the Author

Jack Nadel is a recognized leader in the worldwide sales and promotion industry. After discharge as a decorated combat veteran of WWII, he started his business career in a tiny office with no money, education or experience and over the following 65 successful years, Jack has created thousands of new jobs and hundreds of products. He is the author of three business books - Cracking the Global Market, There's No Business Like Your Business, and How to Succeed in Business without Lying, Cheating, or Stealing.

What to Expect

Since the book is small, you can expect it to be a quick read. Each of the 100 ideas is placed on its own page. This makes it easy to read and easy to refer back to. Reading each idea feels like Jack Nadel is sitting down with you and offering up his very best business advice. His ideas touch on topics such as:

Marketing

Manufacturing

Advisors (Accountants, Lawyers, etc.)

Selling

Self-improvement

Negotiating

And much, much more

Who this Book is For

Every small business owner would do themselves a service by reading this book. Even experienced business owners would be sure to find a gem or two in terms of business advice. Jack Nadel has "been there and done that" and he shares his mistakes as well as his successes to help other business owners avoid the pitfalls of running a company.

Making money online is a dream for many people, particularly if you're trying to do so through a blog. Since this is a bulk of the way I earn an income, I was excited to finally read Make Money Online: Roadmap of a Dot Com Mogul by John Chow. If you have not heard of John Chow, he has been making money online with his blog for quite some time now. He has reported to make $40,000 per month from a combination of private ad sales, affiliate marketing, and email marketing.

What I Liked Most

Since I've been blogging for awhile myself, the first few chapters (minus John's personal story) were nothing new for me. However, they are essential for someone who is just starting out with a blog. My favorite were chapters eleven and twelve where he talks about his top moneymakers and private ad sales. I have been wanting to really grow my blogs and earn more income from them so these chapters were excellent.

I also liked that this book is pure info. It is a short book but everything he has written about is important to running a successful blog. While running a blog sounds like easy money, I didn't come away feeling that I could set up a blog and wait for the money to roll in. First, I know from personal experience it doesn't work that way but it would be wrong to make the reader think that it does. John emphasizes that it takes time and dedication to developing a successful blog.

Who Wouldn't Like this Book?

If you've been blogging or making money online for awhile now, chances are you won't find any new content here. However, you may still want to read John's story or read up on his methods for content generation, marketing, and money makers.

Overall, I think Make Money Online: Roadmap of a Dot Com Mogul is a great read for anyone who plans on using the internet to generate income.

When I was contacted by the author of Never Get a Real Job, I thought, "cool, another business book I get to read." I figured it would be just another fluff-filled, non-practical book about entrepreneurship. However, I finished the book wishing it had been written back when I resigned from my previous job and started my own business.

About the Author

Scott Gerber is the author of Never Get a Real Job. He is a self-taught serial entrepreneur who built successful businesses without the advantages of business connections, business school, or executive training. He is also the founder and CEO of Gerber Enterprises, an entrepreneurial incubator and venture management company that invests capital, management expertise, and marketing services into innovative early and mid-stage companies.

What Makes this Book Different?

The author has written this book in a very down-to-earth tone. You won't find any fluff here. Scott Gerber tells it like it is. Best of all, he tells it from his own experience of having a failed start-up. You won't be reading all about how great it is to run a business, you'll be reading about how to start a business from nothing.

Think you need to write a business plan and do all of the typical things to get started? Forget about it. Scott streamlines the process. The entire book is about taking action with your start-up but from a total beginner's point of view. You will learn how to make those important business connections, how to value your customers, market your business, and so much more.

Packed with Resources

Scott provides tons of resources. He provides a list of mentors to follow on Twitter to various services to help with running your business on a budget. Many of these resources are either low-cost or free.

Conclusion

I recommend this book for anyone looking to get started with their own business. It provides the essential guidance necessary to help prevent costly mistakes when getting started. Don't pass this by!

I finally finished reading Cashflow Quadrant: Rich Dad's Guide to Financial Freedom by Robert Kiyosaki and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Just like Rich Dad Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money-That the Poor and the Middle Class Do Not!, it teaches you about the mindset of the average person when it comes to money. Most of us are taught to get an education and then a good secure job so we can retire in 30 years. As we know, there are no such things as a secure job. What Cashflow Quadrant teaches is to get from the left side of the quadrant (employee and self-employed) to the right side (business owner and investor.)

The cash flow and tax advantages are available on the right side of the quadrant. I thought the author did a good job in explaining the differences between both sides. He also went into detail about the various types of investors that exist, from the gambler to one that understands risk.

He also stresses the importance of becoming a business owner before jumping into investing. Developing a study cash flow as well as learning how to manage a business will help you to become a good investor.

Although the author wasn't in network marketing himself when he wrote the book, he states that it makes a great option for those who want to become business owners. I was happy about that since I have become involved with network markting as a Beachbody coach myself. I do feel it is a great way for most people to get started owning their own business without spending thousands of dollars to do so.

What I got from the book is that a business is one that can run even when you are not there. You would need to set it up so that it runs and generates income regardless of where you are. Being self-employed usually means you are still doing most of the work. For example, as a freelancer, you are usually performing multiple jobs from project managing to doing the actual work. You can outsource certain tasks but most self-employed individuals find it difficult to let go as the quality of work is a reflection of themselves so they continue to do it all.

After reading Cashflow Quadrant: Rich Dad's Guide to Financial Freedom, it has definitely got me thinking in a new way as far as self-employment and business are concerned. I suggest reading this book if you plan on working for yourself.

I know I'm a bit late in reading the popular Robert Kiyosaki books such as Rich Dad Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money-That the Poor and the Middle Class Do Not! and Cashflow Quadrant: Rich Dad's Guide to Financial Freedom but I'm glad I finally found the copies in the library and checked them out. I enjoyed reading Rich Dad Poor Dad very much and learned a lot about myself in terms of the way I view money.

Cashflow Quadrant is no different. I find myself unable to put it down. Learning what the letters mean in the quadrant and how you can use them to get from the left side to the right is very interesting. In fact, I find it motivating. I've always believed in the saying, "You'll never get rich working for someone else." The left quadrant which is the "E" and "S" stands for "Employee" and "Self-Employed." Kiyosaki teaches that in order to be financially well off, we should make it a goal to reach the right side which are "B" and "I" which stand for "Business" and "Investor."

The Difference Between Self-Employed and a Business Owner

The key difference between someone who is self-employed and a business owner is that most self-employed individuals are still doing all of the hard work. Meaning, you are doing the work, project managing, keeping the books, etc. A business owner has set up a system which works regardless if he or she is present. A business owner can do other things while the business runs.

I have definiely recognized this myself. No matter what you choose to do in terms of being self-employed, I think it's a good idea to set up some type of system. For example, if your thing is making money online, it's probably a good idea to figure out a system so that you are not doing the repetitive work. Many successful internet marketers outsource the work and make it so their business runs regardless of where they are.

Network marketing (which is mentioned in the book) is another great opportunity to reach over to the right side of the quadrant. Once you have worked hard in network marketing by reaching a high level of success with individuals running their own business in your network, the less work you have to do. That is what is so attractive about network marketing. You end up building long-term residual income. That is why I started network marketing myself as a Beachbody Coach and thankfully, I really enjoy the company I'm with.

Once you have set up a business, then you can begin learning how to become an "I" (Investor.) This is where you have your money working hard for you. I'm halfway through the book and am looking forward to finishing it. Once I do, I will write a brief book review.

If you have put off reading these two popular books like I have, get to a library or purchase them. You will probably learn a lot about your financial mindset as well.

I've been doing quite a few book reviews recently on this blog but that's simply because I checked out a bunch at the library recently. I've just finished reading Millionaire Zone, The: 7 Winning Steps to a Seven-Figure Fortune. This book is by author Jennifer Openshaw, a successful financial advisor who worked her way up from a motel maid to the entrepreneur she is today.

It's All About Networking

The majority of the book is about networking. Most people (myself included) are under the impression that starting a business has to be done on your own without any help. However, Jennifer makes a point to utilize the people around you to help you on your way. Your network can be made up of family, friends, community, and people that you come across. In fact, the entire first half of the book stresses how important it is to have a solid foundation of people to network with. She also shares some really inspirational stories of millionaires that started out with next to nothing but used their resources (network) to grow their businesses.

The type of help from your network is not about just financial help but even basic things like product testing, opinions, or even learning how to do specific things.

What I Found More Interesting

I have to admit, the first half of the book did tend to seem somewhat repetitive in regards to using your network, however, the way she blends in the personal stories of others kept the reading interesting. I felt the more interesting content happened towards the end of the book when she began giving action steps for financing your start-up and ways to get out of debt (as debt is what usually holds people back.)

Overall, there is a lot of good advice given in the book. It's not a bad read if you are seeking to start a business of your own.

I'm a big fan of reading books about finance, business, and personal development. I think all topics are extremely important for anyone that wants to be self-employed. This past weekend, I read Rich Dad, Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money--That the Poor and Middle Class Do Not! by Robert Kiyosaki and really enjoyed it. It has been one of those books that I'd been wanting to read but never got around to it. Recently, while browsing the library, it was finally available.

It's a small book (around 200 pages or so) so if you're a fast reader, you can easily finish it over a weekend. The book starts out telling a story about growing up with his educated dad (his biological father) and his rich dad (his friend's father.) The difference in beliefs between the two dad's when it comes to money is what makes it a great book.

The educated dad believes strongly in getting an education, securing a good job, and retiring after 30 years. The rich dad knows that you won't get rich working for someone else. He teaches about how to create ways to make more money without depending on a job as well as the importance of buying assets (stocks, bonds, real estate, etc.)

The book also goes over the mentality of most people when it comes to money and spending. I could relate very well as I am one of those who has spent plenty of money on liabilities rather than assets.

One of my favorite parts of the book was the section which covered corporations and the advantages of having one. I know there is some controversy surrounding the teachings in this book but overall, I thought Rich Dad, Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money--That the Poor and Middle Class Do Not! was an informative read and good for everyone to read - not just those who wish to be self-employed.

It is written by Larry Winget and I had not heard of him until I checked out this book from the library. He is the star of a show on A&E called "Big Spender" in which he helps people who who are in serious debt because of poor spending habits.

I have not heard of the show but would like to watch it if it is still on the air. The book is a fairly quick read and I admit I assumed it would be the typical "make a budget" book. He does give the common sense advice - basically spend less than you make, but what I really enjoyed was his writing style as well as sharing his own story of having nothing to having it all to filing for bankruptcy.

Larry Winget is a millionaire now and it shows that regardless of who you are, if you have the right attitude about money and take the right actions, you can reach your financial dreams. One common thing I've read in a lot of success books about money is that being rich is really all about your beliefs about money, belief in yourself, and positive attitudes about life in general. Essentially, a rich person can lose everything money-wise and gain it back and then some in 6 months to a year because they hold strong positive beliefs about earning and increasing income.

His blunt, in-your-face writing style will tear you down in the beginning but honestly, it is what some people need in terms of a wake up call. He also does a good job of inspiring you to do better financially. I found the stories that he shares about his millionaire friends very inspiring. Overall, the book is filled with reality checks and lots of humor which made it easy and fun to read.
