Happily Self Employed

By selfemployedblog | April 14, 2006

I found this blog post which brought up the topic of the self-employed being happier than those who work for someone else. As for me, I do work longer hours and I do tend to work 7 days a week. However, the fact that I am doing this for myself is much more satisfying than if I were pulling long hours working for another company. I’ve been there, done that, and in the end, it got me nothing except stress, headaches, and frustration.

If I had to get another full time job, it would be one in which I am happy doing the job. I’ve learned my lesson about doing a job you don’t like. It’s not worth it in the long run. Working for myself has been brought me more happiness than the 5 years I worked at my last job. Yes, it is hard work, but there are wonderful things about it too. For example:

Honestly, I could go on but those are the few perks that stand out for me. There is good and bad to every work situation but ultimately, happiness is what you make it. There are just as many people who love their full-time jobs just as well as those who love working for themselves.
