Interviews - Good For You, Good For Me
By selfemployedblog | October 6, 2007
One of the things I like to do is conduct interviews (via email) with people that have something in common with the topics of my web sites. On my fitness blog, I have several interviews posted with fitness professionals. I get great content and they get backlinks and free promotion of their own sites or services. Not only that, but it benefits the readers because they get to read the viewpoints of professionals.
Getting the interviews wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. I was a little worried about requesting my very first one. I’ve learned that if you are genuine in your request and also briefly explain what they get in return for their time, most people are more than happy to participate.
So far I’ve only done interviews by email. Primarily because I don’t want to take up too much of someone’s time since they are doing the interview for free. By replying to an email, they can take their time, and there are only 10 to 12 questions at the most to answer. However, I would love to venture into podcast interviews once I learn how to do them.
While I’m on the topic of interviews, I have one coming up for this blog. The person I am interviewing quit their full-time job to become a full-time blogger. I think it will be really interesting and motivational for people who are pursuing the same goal. Check back soon! If you haven’t already, subscribe to the RSS feed so you’ll know when it’s posted.
