I have tried my hand at network marketing several years ago, however, I did not give it my full effort. I remember having a decent sponsor and being excited upon receiving my marketing kit but looking back, I realize a few things that I did wrong.
First off, I started off not really knowing what network marketing was. Network marketing is direct selling of a product or products. When you sign up with a network marketing company, you become an independent distributor. You are placed in another distributor’s downline and that distributor is supposed to help you build your own downline. You then make commission from your sales and also a percentage from your downline’s sales and so on.
Second, I didn’t research enough to find a product that I felt a connection with. If you’re going to be marketing a product, you need to have some type of connection with it in order to feel comfortable about promoting it to others. You won’t sound very convincing if you don’t believe in what you’re selling.
Third, I wasn’t ready to go out and find prospects. I had no idea how to get leads, I wasn’t prepared to cold call, and I didn’t know ways to advertise. What it boils down to was I wasn’t prepared to make my network marketing business work.
Many people have reached financial freedom from their network marketing businesses. For some it has taken a matter of months and for others a few years. I have recently read an issue of Success From Home Magazine which highlights several successful network marketers who are all living their dreams.
If network marketing sounds like it may be for you, do some research before jumping into it. There are a lot of companies that you can choose from so there may be a product that attracts you. Remember, it is a business and you have to be ready to work to make it a success.
