Making Your Business Cards Stand Out
By selfemployedblog | April 10, 2007
Your business card can play an important role when it comes to making first impressions. Business cards are the first introduction to your company’s brand. Working in the web world, I have come across some impressive business cards designed by talented graphic designers I have worked with.
My former employer had business cards designed out of clear, yellow plastic. They were very stylish and at the time, plastic business cards were not very common. Whenever I passed them out, I received a ton of compliments on them, as did my co-workers. The only gripe was that we had to begin carrying around a magic marker in order to write anything on the back of them.
Another friend of mine who owns a web company designed his cards in small 3 X 3 inch squares with the company logo on one side and contact information on the other. They were really unique. Again, you couldn’t really write on them but if you have the key information on them, I don’t see why you would need to write anything anyway.
While having unique, high-quality business cards created for your business may cost extra, it may be something to consider when it means standing out among the crowd. I have been in networking situations where everyone is passing around their cards and most of them look the same. If you have one that stands out, your chances of landing a new client is much higher than your competition.
Also, beware of the business card services that offer free business cards. Many of these companies reap their profits from selling your information.
I had my business cards designed by a professional graphic designer and I was very happy with the results. You can find freelance designers who can provide custom logos and design business cards at reasonable rates. Making a good first impression is important so you may want to give some consideration to the quality of your business cards.
