My Job is Making Me Depressed – Why You Should Start a Part-Time Business ASAP!

When I had originally written this post, I simply posted an old article I had previously posted on another article directory. In all honesty, it was just a post glorifying the benefits of network marketing with a link to the company I am a part of. However, since people are actually typing in "my job is making me depressed" and landing on this article, I decided to actually make it useful and not a shameless plug for the network marketing company I am a part of.

After some time in mlm, my viewpoint has changed and after reading The Millionaire Fastlane by M.J. DeMarco, I no longer want to place all of my efforts into recruiting people. I'd rather focus my efforts in a business of my own, which I have full control. I'm sure you want to do the same.

Start a Business

Starting a business can be done even if you are working full-time. You don't like your job so use that as your fuel to create a business of your own. Take advantage of your study income to help fund your business. Deciding what your business should be is another challenge. Here are some of my personal tips:

  • Don't Quit Your Day Job - Establish your business first and earn sufficient income from it before giving up your job.
  • Don't Freelance - That is unless you seriously don't mind doing it for a living. Transitioning to freelance work can give you the satisfaction of working for yourself, but after some time, it will feel like another job.
  • Be Weary of MLM's - Network marketing can be a very fast way to work for yourself but it is by no means easy. Just like any business, you have to put in a lot of effort to grow it and since a majority of that effort relies on recruiting others, it can be tough. Consider if you want to spend the time on someone else's company or your own.
  • Do Consider Affiliate Marketing - If you have some marketing skills, SEO skills, or both, you may want to consider affiliate marketing. Many people earn their living from affiliate marketing. I enjoy it because it can be done online and runs 24/7. It takes time but once you gain some momentum, it is a great form of passive income.
  • Learn How to Sell - Read this article from Inc. magazine: How to Make Money in 6 Easy Steps.

Network Marketing with Beachbody – Making Big Progress

A few months ago, I wrote a post which talked about my first impressions of becoming a Beachbody coach as well as my new journey into network marketing. Since then, I have made several sales, added new coaches to my team, and have moved up in rank. I think it is safe to say that network marketing is working out better than I had anticipated.

Internet Marketing Knowledge Helped Me Out

Besides having support from my own coach, what helped me tremendously with growing my network was everything I have learned up till now about internet marketing. I wrote a post about this topic recently titled: Struggling Internet Marketers – Broaden Your Horizons. You see, I know what it's like to discover the income potential of making money online. Eventually you become absorbed in the subject and follow all of the gurus that make money online attempting to duplicate their success.

There is nothing wrong with that and those who are dedicated and persist will find their success online. However, there are those who struggle but don't realize how much they have managed to learn during all of it. I simply applied what I learned over the years to my network marketing business and it has worked very well.

Getting into this industry is not easy by any means but I do believe that internet marketers have a huge advantage.

Good Company and Awesome Products

Beachbody has developed some of the best in-home fitness programs on the market. They have also created one of the best nutritional supplements with Shakeology. Overall, Beachbody products are awesome and I love using them and recommending them.

What I Think of Network Marketing Now

Right now, I see great potential in network marketing. If a person puts in effort in the beginning and works hard, their future can be very bright. I believe that this business can create the time and freedom that most people desire. It is a great way to pursue self-employment. If you find a company with products or services you can resonate with, you will see that you can help people and in turn grow your business.

Pros and Cons of 3-Way Calling in Network Marketing

I have only been active in network marketing since June of 2009. I have read different articles and viewpoints on some of the ways to attract leads as well as communicating with them. The 3-way conference call is a common method that many network marketers use in their business. The way I understand it to work is as follows:

  1. You have a new prospect who wants more information.
  2. Rather than explain everything yourself, you invite them on a 3-way call with you and your sponsor.
  3. On the call, you introduce your lead to your sponsor and let your sponsor do all of the talking.
  4. Call ends and you follow up with your prospect to sign them up or provide more information.

The Pros

This technique has its advantages. First, it takes the pressure off of you if you are new to the business and still need training. Your sponsor does all of the talking while you listen in and soak up more knowledge. You learn how to answer people's questions so when it's your turn to lead a call, you will be better prepared.

Second, your prospect will likely feel more comfortable about their decision since they are speaking to their future team members. They have all of their important questions answered and hopefully, feel no pressure about joining.

Third, you get to learn more about your lead and their "why" behind their interest in the business. You also open the lines of communication so that they are more comfortable about approaching you about any of their concerns.

Fourth, a new prospect is more likely to join your organization after talking with you and your sponsor. The trust factor is in place and the curiosity factor is satisfied.

The Cons

Unless you have a good sponsor, you may be left searching for him/her when it comes time to set up a call. The longer you leave a prospect waiting, the higher the chances they will not be interested in what you have to say.

It is not the easiest method to duplicate. Not everyone is comfortable with speaking on the phone. When it is your turn to do the talking for those on your team, you may not feel comfortable doing it. The same goes for your team members. They may not want to do 3-way calls, yet they may feel it has to be done if you train them this way.

Another reason is that you are left to depend on your sponsor to do the talking every time you acquire a new lead. Even though your business is in network marketing, it is still your business. Shouldn't you be the one presenting your business to your leads?

My Personal Experience

Luckily, I have a great sponsor and he is very receptive to 3-way calls. He presents the business very well and I have learned a lot from our phone calls. I don't see 3-way calls as a bad idea. You have to try them yourself and see if it is something that works well in your own business.

Struggling Internet Marketers – Broaden Your Horizons

I have been internet marketing for quite sometime now. I have reached many successes as well as reaching many failures. I may not make 6-figures like many of the pro's out there but I am not disappointed with where I am. Maybe you are still struggling to be one of the folks that "make it" in internet marketing. I know where you are coming from. You research, study, and soak up every piece of information you find on blogs.

You may think the latest product launch is what will take you over the top and finally help you to find success. I know, I've been there and done that too.

What You May Not Realize

While you are busy studying, researching, and trying out multiple ways to make money online, you may not realize just how much you have already learned. I was the same way. I realized just how much I had learned when I started my fitness business. I wanted to get my business out there as quickly as possible.

I took what I learned about internet marketing and applied it to my business in network marketing. Network marketing techniques have usually been about face to face interaction, some cold calling, and talking with family/friends. Many network marketers are just now learning about the power of using the internet to reach out to a much larger audience.

As a struggling internet marketer, you know that it is all about multiple streams of income. You can't place all of your eggs in one basket. If one area dries up, you need to have other areas to fill the gap. Network marketing is a great option to do this and apply what you know to get your business going. You are already ahead of most network marketers who probably don't even know what Twitter is or how to rank a site in the search engines.

Choose Your Network Marketing Company Wisely

Not all network marketing companies are created equal. You want to promote products that you can believe in and since network marketing is more about promoting yourself, you'll want to use the products and believe in them.

That is why the health and wellness industry was an easy choice for me. It will never run dry! People are always seeking ways to improve their health and weight loss is one of the major ways that people are after.

When I became an Independent Beachbody® Coach, I didn't realize how much fun it would be. You see, the money is a motivating factor, but I have a passion for fitness and have fun promoting it. I use the products and the best thing is they are working for me. I am losing weight and getting into the best shape of my life. You can follow my progress on my weight loss blog.

How I Use My Internet Marketing Skills in Network Marketing

I have been receiving constant traffic to my web site since the day I launched it and it's only growing. Here is a list of some of the internet marketing methods I have been applying thanks to what I've learned from trying everything else to make money online:

  • Blogging - no-brainer here! Blogging brings natural search traffic.
  • Social networking - Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube bring me traffic daily.
  • Video - I post almost daily video blogs of my progress (traffic from YouTube as well.)
  • Article marketing - Always a great way to drive traffic and it's free.
  • Email marketing - I set up an autoresponder and blog broadcast.
  • PPC - I do a little pay-per-click advertising (still learning.)

Those are just some of the ways to promote but more than what most network marketers do. You see, you may feel like you are failing in internet marketing but you are succeeding more than you know. You are building up marketing skills and if you apply them to other areas, you not only create another stream of income, you may just reach the level of financial success you are striving for.
